From the love and joy of that first train set and trainspotting escapades to traveling and waxing lyrical on the sights, sounds, speed, and fascination of trains. Light refreshments in the interval.

In the company of historian Stuart Butler, Lady Hatt (wife of Sir Topham Hatt) & Katie the Riveter (ex-Land Girl/Wartime worker at Swindon Railway Works.) Taking in the Brunel Goods Shed Stroud, Dudbridge Hill & Rodborough Avenue – Awdry’s former home. All on pavements; wheelchair friendly and only moderately strenuous. Involves an ascent to the parish church at Rodborough. Readings on the hour by the Thomas The Tank Engine stained-glass window. Allow 2 hours.
Meet under the tree, Platform 2 at Stroud Station at 10.30 or 2pm.
